  • iPDS-100 repackaged

Intel originally packaged the iPDS-100 personal development system in a clumsy, heavy, awkward, "portable" case with a tiny 9" green CRT display and a very clunky keyboard on a short tether and an even clunkier 5.25" SA460 floppy drive. These units suffered from a lot of component failures. In 2016, if you find one to buy, it's for sure the software is missing.

  • Zendex AQ-85 Monitor

The 1981 Zendex AQ-85 Monitor was intended to replace the Intel MDS Monitor in the Intel MDS-225 Microcomputer Development System. It also shipped with the Zendex ZX-85 CPU card which was hardware and software compatible with the MDS-225. In fact, the ZX-85 could replace the IPC completely, or form the basis of a Zendex Microcomputer Development System. Three unusual AQ-85 commands allowed (F) the format of a DD Intel MMFM 8" disk, (W) write selected tracks/sectors from a 128-byte memory buffer, and (R) read a selected track/sector to a 128-byte memory buffer.

Progress report on the restoration of a dead Series-IV with no software. Floppies were converted to 3.5" 720K and disk images downloaded as IMD files and used on an IBM 5170 and an Adaptec AHA-1522A FDC to write new bootable disks using Dave Dunfield's IMD utility.
